COLUMBIA, SC – Edwina Winter officially filed her candidacy for the office of South Carolina Secretary of State. A local Real Estate Agent, consultant, and dedicated community advocate, Winter enters the Democratic primary with a clear mission: to bring transparency, accessibility, and modern accountability to an office that has been held by the same incumbent for over two decades.
“I believe this state deserves a government that answers to the people and not to power. For too long, our state’s constitutional offices have operated in the shadows of the status quo. I am running to ensure that every South Carolinian regardless of their background or zip code has a Secretary of State’s office that works for them, protects our businesses, protects our people from scams, and operates with absolute integrity.”

An immigrant from the United Kingdom, Winter brings a unique perspective to the race, fueled by a deep appreciation for the democratic process and a rich professional background that spans global engineering and construction projects that eventually brought her to South Carolina. Once she decided to make South Carolina her home, she became a professional realtor and founded a faith based non-profit. Her campaign focuses on modernizing the Secretary of State’s business and charitable filing systems, increasing oversight to ensure public protection, and guarantee that the office serves as a true bridge between the government and the community.
“As a realtor, I spend my days helping families find their place in our community. I see the challenges they face and the disconnect they feel from their state government,” Winter continued. “I want to change that. I will be a Secretary of State who will fight to make South Carolina a leader in transparency and ethics.”
