Columbia, SC — Stacey D. Hamm, Richland County Finance Director with more than 30 years of public finance experience, today announced her candidacy for Richland County Auditor.
A lifelong Richland County resident, Hamm began her career in 1995 as Deputy Treasurer and has served as Finance Director since 2017, overseeing financial reporting, compliance, audits, and budget preparation for one of South Carolina’s largest counties.
Hamm holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business and is a Certified Government Finance Officer. Under her leadership, the county has maintained top credit ratings (Aaa/AAA), earned eight consecutive GFOA awards for financial reporting, and received clean audit opinions each year.
She also led the implementation of a modern financial system and expanded online billing options for residents.
“I’ve spent my career ensuring every dollar is managed with accuracy, transparency, and integrity,” Hamm said. “I’m ready to bring that same standard to the Auditor’s Office.”
Her campaign will focus on helping seniors access every available tax exemption and modernizing the Auditor’s Office to deliver more accessible, efficient services.
“The Auditor’s Office serves every property owner,” Hamm said. “Taxpayers deserve an office that is accurate, accessible, and accountable.”
Hamm is running in the Democratic Primary for Richland County Auditor.
