(Columbia, SC) — Billy Webster, candidate for Governor of South Carolina, released the following statement on reports that Governor McMaster is considering calling the legislature into special session to redraw congressional districts:
“What’s happening in Columbia right now is exactly why I’m running for Governor.
South Carolinians are struggling with gas prices, grocery bills, and insurance premiums they can’t afford, but the folks running our state are focused on redrawing congressional maps to help their friends in Washington.
We deserve better than this. I hope our state’s elected leaders will step up and lead with conviction on the issues that actually matter to South Carolina families — because our state is capable of so much more than partisan politics.
Our state needs someone focused on making life more affordable for South Carolina families, not playing politics in Washington’s interest. That’s why I’m running for Governor of South Carolina. Join us.”
